Orvieto among the most welcoming cities in the world according to Booking.com

Orvieto shines in the world hospitality scene: the Umbrian city has been included among the most welcoming destinations of 2025 according to Booking.com’s Traveller Review Awards. This prestigious award, based on traveler reviews, celebrates the authentic welcoming spirit that makes Orvieto a must-see destination.

Like a jewel set in the rock, Orvieto stands on a majestic tufa cliff enchanting visitors with its medieval charm, picturesque narrow streets and imposing Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic art. It is not surprising, then, that it was chosen among the most hospitable cities in the world, winning travelers mainly from the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom. But its appeal is also growing among the French, Dutch and Canadians, with a significant increase in searches over the previous year.

Orvieto’s hospitality is also reflected in the variety and quality of its accommodations. Hotels, apartments and room rentals remain the most popular choices, but agritourisms also stand out, reflecting the city’s deep connection with the territory and its traditions.

In addition to Orvieto, Italy is confirmed as queen of hospitality and once again a world leader in hospitality. With more than 200,000 facilities awarded, our country holds the record for the number of awards given by Booking.com, surpassing France, Spain and Germany. This testifies to the strength of the Italian tradition of hospitality and the ability to offer authentic and unforgettable experiences to travelers around the world.

A recognition that looks to the future for Orvieto, this award represents not only an achievement, but also an incentive to continue investing in the quality of the tourism offer. Mayor Roberta Tardani said, “An extraordinary achievement that fills us with pride and invests us with great responsibility. It is an acknowledgement of the entire city, which is investing heavily in the quality of the tourist offer and the entire hospitality system, and it gives due credit to the operators in the sector, the first ambassadors of the authentic experience that we have promoted and recounted in recent years, which Orvieto conveys and which travelers evidently do not forget. It is an award to the wonders that history has handed over to us, to the immense cultural heritage that we guard with love, to its excellent food and wine and craftsmanship that are the fruit of ancient traditions, to the events that find evocative stages here. The quality of the welcome, making travelers feel not like guests but temporary citizens, is one of the fundamental requirements for a reality that wants to present itself as a destination and that is working in this direction by expanding its offer beyond the boundaries of the city of art by also focusing on nature itineraries and outdoor activities. And for Orvieto this is not an achievement but will be a further stimulus to continue working to offer a unique and unforgettable experience to all those who want to discover it.”

Alessandro Callari, Booking.com’s Regional Manager for Italy, also commented, “The Traveller Review Awards are our way of celebrating the extraordinary efforts of our partners, thanking them on behalf of travelers around the world. It is a source of great pride to see Italy stand out once again for winning the most awards, and to celebrate Orvieto, a true hidden gem, among the most welcoming cities in the world. At Booking.com, we are committed to supporting our partners throughout Italy on a daily basis, giving travelers the chance to have never-before-seen experiences and communities to fully benefit from the opportunities offered by tourism.”
