EuroGames 2025 in Lyon between sports, inclusion and fun

July 23-26, 2025, Lyon will become the stage for the EuroGames, Europe’s largest inclusive sports event. This festival of sport and diversity will welcome thousands of LGBTQIA+ athletes and allies from around the world, offering a unique experience of inclusion and sport.

A little history: what are the EuroGames?

The EuroGames originated in the Netherlands in 1992 with the aim of promoting equality and celebrating diversity through sport. Organized each year in a different European city, these games are open to everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation or sporting level. You don’t need to be a professional athlete: at the EuroGames, it’s participation, fun and sharing core values such as inclusion and respect that count above all.

Lyon, with its history, gastronomy and welcoming spirit, is the perfect city to host the EuroGames 2025. More than 4,000 athletes from more than 40 countries are expected to arrive, ready to compete along the banks of the Rhone and Saône rivers in a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. The French city is preparing to deliver a memorable event, putting the spotlight not only on sports, but also on culture and entertainment.

EuroGames 2025: the scheduled sports

One of the most exciting aspects of the EuroGames is the variety of sports disciplines. There will be competitions in more than 19 disciplines in Lyon, including:

  • Team sports: soccer, basketball, rugby, handball, volleyball.
  • Individual sports: athletics, swimming, cycling, archery, golf, bowling.
  • Racquet sports: tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis.
  • Water sports: synchronized swimming, water polo, rowing.
  • Combat sports: judo, karate, taekwondo, wrestling.

In short, there is something for everyone! Whether you are a seasoned athlete or just an enthusiast, the EuroGames offer an opportunity to test yourself in a welcoming and challenging environment.

EuroGames, more than a sporting event: inclusion, diversity and sustainability

The EuroGames are not only an opportunity to play sports, but also represent an important moment of reflection and awareness. Lyon 2025 will be based on three core values:

  • Inclusion: By partnering with more than 15 sports organizations, the EuroGames aims to build a lasting legacy that promotes inclusion in the world of sports.
  • Diversity: The event welcomes athletes from all backgrounds, putting a special focus on Paralympic sports and accessibility.
  • Eco-responsibility: the organization is working to reduce the environmental impact of the event, demonstrating that large sporting events can be sustainable.

Beyond sports: cultural and social events

The EuroGames are also a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to the competitions, the program includes opening and closing ceremonies, cultural gatherings, workshops and networking moments. Lyon will be transformed into a major meeting point for athletes, spectators and supporters of LGBTQIA+ rights.
